I'm thinkin'

maybe the family isn't doing a far away vacation during this hiatus because Peter's series "Younger" has already started filming. Remember they had an a almost month long vacation in Italy earlier this year. "Younger" premieres a week after SVU on Sept. 28th. Previously they premiered in February.

I think you're right! They've had several short vacations also so maybe they're just staying in town this year!
